WHAT IT ACHIEVED
THE BUILD
How it was built
Deploys were manual, took most of an hour, and only one engineer could do them safely. The AWS bill had grown faster than traffic, and nobody could map line items to services.
The existing estate was imported into Terraform before anything changed. Then workloads moved to ECS Fargate behind an ALB, deploys moved to GitHub Actions with staged environments, and over-provisioned resources were right-sized against real CloudWatch data.
ECS Fargate services behind an ALB, RDS PostgreSQL with automated backups, ElastiCache for Redis, S3 and CloudFront for static and media, all defined in Terraform modules per environment. GitHub Actions builds one image and promotes it through staging to production.
